Walking tour
Season: Year-roundMedina and Kasbah walking tour
- The souks, the Petit Socco and the Kasbah
- A licensed guide who keeps hustlers away

Planning
Two days is the perfect introduction to Tangier: enough time to get lost in the medina, see the coast and enjoy the city in the evening, when the day-trippers have gone home.
Start at the Grand Socco, then walk into the medina along the jewellers’ street to the Petit Socco for coffee. A licensed guide makes a first visit much easier.
Explore the souks, then visit the American Legation Museum, a calm escape in the lower medina.
Climb to the Kasbah and visit the Kasbah Museum in the former sultan’s palace.

Walk to Café Hafa for mint tea as the sun goes down over the strait, then have dinner in the medina.
See St Andrew’s Church and its garden cemetery, and admire the tiled façade of the Gran Teatro Cervantes. Take a cooking class if you want to learn to make a tagine.
Take a taxi or tour west to Cap Spartel and the Caves of Hercules, and walk on the beaches nearby.
Watch the sunset over the Atlantic, then head back for dinner by the bay.
Add a day trip to blue Chefchaouen. Read Chefchaouen day trip from Tangier to plan it.
